Caron et al. (2018) Poster
- Although literacy instruction is imperative for individuals with ASD and CCN, improved features within AAC technologies could also be used to complement instruction and infuse literacy learning into daily communication.
- Current grid-based AAC systems commonly use paired text and graphic symbols to represent concepts, however, previous research shows that this static pairing does not promote word learning.
- This study investigated the effects of pairing dynamic text with speech output upon selection of a graphic symbol (i.e., Transition to Literacy “T2L” feature) on the acquisition of sight words for individuals with ASD.
