Abstract:Five individuals (3 with speech, 2 without) with severe ASD participated in a single subject study to investigate the effects of video visual scene displays on communication turns. Post-hoc analysis revealed an increase in use of speech during intervention, for the individuals with speech at baseline. These findings contribute to research reviews indicating that AAC doesn’t impede speech production.
