Gormley, J., Tedesco, T., & Light, J. (2018, November). Hospitals as a language learning context for children with complex medical needs: Case study. Poster at the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Conference, Boston, MA.

Abstract: Young children with complex communication needs (CCN) increasingly participate in extended or frequent inpatient hospital stays, often coinciding with critical periods of language development. However, little research exists describing how the hospital environment may affect language development. This poster presents a case study of the language learning contexts observed during the hospital stay of a three-year-old child with CCN.
